The ARCC purchased Little Ground House in September 2013. The hut is situated in the Wasdale valley, approximately 2 miles from Nether Wasdale; it provides an ideal base from which to explore the Central and Western fells.
Originally a farm house, the hut was extensively refurbished thanks to the efforts of club members. It can accommodate about 23 people in 4 dormitories. Downstairs is open plan with kitchen, dining and fireside areas as well as separate storage and drying rooms. See members only section for further information about the hut.
The hut is available for group bookings outside the main school and bank holiday periods. The calendar below shows when the hut has already been booked and when it is being used for organised club meets. Please contact us for more details.
Wasdale shuttlebus
As of July 2022 there is a shuttlebus running between a pop-up car park in Nether Wasdale and Wasdale Head. The bus is free thanks to grant funding, but they appreciate donations on-board to put back into conservation projects in the valley. This year the first and last journeys of the day to will link up with Ravenglass train station. Click here for more info and timetable.
