The club has a thriving fell running section with members competing all over the country as well as overseas. We are fortunate enough to have some of our members selected to represent the country at International level.

Our members frequently train on the fells from our huts, all of which are ideally situated.

We promote three fell races:

The Old County Tops

Held in May. Start/finish in Great Langdale. Approximately 37 miles, 10,000ft ascent. Summits of Helvellyn, Scafell Pike, and Coniston Old Man. Must be run in pairs.

Dungeon Ghyll Fell Race

Usually beginning of April. Start/finish in Great Langdale. 3.5 miles, 2100ft ascent. From the New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel to the top of Langdale Pikes and back.

The Derek Price Memorial Grisedale Horseshoe

First Saturday of September. Start/finish in Glenridding. 10 miles, 5,000ft ascent. Summits of Catstye Cam, Helvellyn, Dollywaggon, and St Sunday Crag.

As well as the races we promote, we have a club Fell Running Championship for members which runs throughout the year.

There is also a club Handicap Fell Race which is held in September from the Campsite in Great Langdale to the top of Lingmoor and back.
